Sleepy Bear Dunes

We went to Sleepy Bear Dunes for a day trip. It is getting busier as last year Good Morning America voted it the prettiest place in America.

They have a dune climb and every year we try to go further then the last. I had brought a camelback so we could be prepared this year. Too bad I left in the hotel! I looked over the info and the full climb is 4 hours, 3.5 miles, up and down hills in sand. It says it's challenging and you need to be prepared. We decided it was going to be too much... Haha

We left with 2 small bottles of water ( 10ozs) and started hiking. The girls did .75 miles one way so 1.5. Two little 4 year olds had out hiked most adults. But, baron wanted to keep going to the lake. So Opa took the girls to the car and Baron and I went off. I'm glad we did. It took us 4 hours. I drank no water as we didn't have enough ( heat of day). And I to bum some more water for Baron off some college girls. I have to say it was harder then a half marathon. I was so sore the next day I couldn't workout. And my feet burned in the sand. Almost a week later... And I still have blisters all over my feet. For the way back everyone had brought food and shoes. We had nothing! For awhile I thought Baron was not going to make it back. It wasn't pretty. He was stopping every 5 feet. Then he met a "friend" he was 12 and he talked to him on the way back. It helped pass the time. Nothing like getting done at 3 and your son had not even ate! Next year we are going prepared!

Zip lining

We did go carts, rope course, bumper boats, and zip lining one night. Baron did the zip lining and ropes ( the girls were not tall enough). He loved and did great. It was pretty funny how wet we got on the bumper cars! And I think this was kaija's favorite thing ever.

We made it to Traverse City

We spent the last few days at the farm. The weather was not great.... It was COLD. It did not stop Baron from lots of farm time. He loved making fires. I was pretty lazy! Amelia played inside a lot with Kaija. After a long stop at the outlet mall we made it to Traverse City. This place is so pretty it's awesome to come back every year. So much to see and do. Looks like a few things we have to change around as we can't do adding a 3rd kid. Oh well. We wanted to do this hike to lake Michigan from sleepy bear dunes. But, we came to the decision that it won't work with two 4 year olds.

We stop at our favorite Latin American restaurant. Yum! The kids love that they give you WikiStix's. Opa made glasses for Baron.

Amelia wanted her picture taken by this frog sign

I just noticed she has one legging up and the other down. It's the new fashion statement.

Famous ice cream place in town. We have been know to eat that for lunch somedays! Every year for 4 years they have got their pictures taken by this bear. I need to repost some of those pictures. Growing fast

Amelia loved this tree and wanted her picture by it. Isn't she lovely???

Traveling!

The kids and I are traveling over 2 weeks. Last week I drove to Michigan with them. Then we drove to my sisters house in the DC area. We did some fun things there then we are heading back to Michigan. We picked up my niece Kaija she is coming back to Michigan with us. Next week we are doing a little vacation up to the North part of Michigan.

Skyline chili on the drive. He was really into the picture. Amelia refused to even get in it.

We limit video and technology. So they had old fashioned games. They had to circle the color when they found a car that color.

Baron and his Mexican coke. He spent the whole next day driving motorcycles, gators, and tractors. His favorite. He is trying to talk Opa into a gator for his birthday.

The kids picked these blackberries

Eating out. We are doing a lot of this
