Wolf Sanctuary

On Saturday we went to the Wolf Sanctuary. We have never been there before. It is a joint project with the zoo and Wash U. There are tons of different kinds of wolfs there and they work on getting them ready to go back to the wild. Some of the varieties they have there are only a handful left in the world. We got a really up close view and we ended up getting a tour with just our family. The pics don't look great since there is 2 fences between us and the wolves. But, we were about 3 feet away. We did have some things that did not go our way or were working against us. It was very cold that day ( 20's.) Poor Amelia could hardly walk with so many layers on. Then the tour was supposed to be an hour walking tour. Well it lasted 2 hours which went into lunch/naps time. And little Amelia just was too wore out. It's funny now. But, we just kind of let the kids do what we do and think that is how they learn. We are not big on strollers. And the kids HATE them ( the kids like being active) Baron has not used one for a LONG time and Amelia is pretty slim these days. We like to let them walk to burn off energy and see things ( even though it keeps me on my toes). Amelia had walked about a mile and just could not make it anymore and did not want to be carried. And she needed to be quite not to bother the wolves. So we ended up taking her back to the car where she took a quick nap. And Baron and Nolan did the rest of the tour. Nolan offered to go back to the car... But, to be honest it was OK for me to warm up in the car. so why we did have fun. It would of been better with warmer weather, less layers on the kids, and a little shorter walk.

  1. Those wolves look a little bit like our dog! But I have a feeling she is way sweeter than those guys! That sounds like a cool adventure with the kiddos.
