Taum Sauk Park and Elephant Rocks Hike

Today we were blessed again with perfect weather. It seems like fall! So took advantage of the weekend and left at 8:30 this morning for an outing. Our first stop ( after gas) was Elephant Rocks State Park. They have massive rocks everywhere that you can climb on. This was not our planned trip we stopped here and did not stay long so we could stretch our legs. Then off for 13 more miles in the car till Taum Sauk Park. We hiked to the highest elevation in Missouri ( actually the highest for a handful of states in the midwest). Then we were off on to our hike to Mina Sauk Falls it is a really pretty waterfall in Missouri. It does not usually have water this time of year but last week we got a lot of rain. So it had some water ( but not lots). Amelia and I both had to go in the Kelty. This a a 3 miles round trip hike and I can do 3 miles. But, this trail was too rugged for us and VERY steep. Mom is wondering how much longer she can carry Amelia. This was some work out and I think Mom is still trying to recover. There is warnings about how hard this hike is before you start. Mom brought snacks ( since our lunch was going to be real late). It took us 2:15 mins to complete and Mom and Dad went fast!. I was so pretty Amelia and I loved it. We saw the water fall ( put our feet in), saw animals, and some of the prettiest views in Missouri. Then on the way home we stopped in a Small town BBQ place. Which was great ( it has numerous awards). Then off to the car to nap on the way home. Then once we got home- I still had tons of energy ( Mom and Dad can't figure where I get it from). So Amelia and I rode bikes till 8pm.
