  • The kids did some "cliff jumping" while on the trip.  Can you guess who is the one that gets scared?

Black River

Over July 4th we did a short 1 day little float trip.  Amelia actually rode in the back of Baron's Kayak and he was happy to take her for a ride.  Nolan and I did our own kayak.

Big Piney

I am a little behind.  About a month ago Baron and Nolan with on a overnight (3 days, 2 nights, 15 mile) float trip.  Nolan's brother joined in and brought his 2 oldest children.  It is safe to say they all had a blast.  Baron did his own Kayak again!  Here is some pics from the weekend.

Cute bird houses

The kids had a great time at the Grandparents. They made these awesome bird houses.

Baseball

Yesterday Baron had a ball game. It was a nice day. But, when we got to the field it got dark out and started raining. Well they played one inning in the rain! Then it started pouring. There was no lighting so they kept playing. Finally, the pitching machines were not working correct so they called it

They will have to make it up. He got a hit and made it to first base. I hit end on my phone too fast.

Way to go Baron

Kayak Race

This weekend Nolan did a kayak race. It was 41 miles on the Missouri River. It worked out nice as the kids went to Nolan's parents house.

I dropped Nolan off in Washington, mo. Then I went to Weldon springs. It's on the Katy Trail so I ran 12 miles

After my run I walked to the boat access point and waited. At noon he floated by. 20 miles in 3 hours.

Then I went grabbed lunch and went to a gym to shower. Then I headed to the finish line in St Charles. They were having a festival there for the race.

Nolan finished the 41 miles in 6 hours. That is amazing. His boat is only 13 feet and makes a huge difference. He actually got 4th place and the person ahead of him had a 18 foot boat.

Baron's first week

Just a small recap on Baron's first week of school

He got a star on all his assignments

He got a short note sent home saying how great he is doing

He got 5 good reports. The whole week so at the end of the week he got to pick a "treasure" out. That really made his week. He said only about half the class got one

He doesn't care for rest time.

He didn't know what PE class was. I asked him about PE and he told me he didn't have that. He had gym. Haha

He doesn't like going to bed early. He still fills like he does not get enough time with us.

I'm still really missing him at home. Sure it's nice the house is quiet and I don't have fighting to listen too. And errands are easy. But, life is just not quite as fun without and all the fun we used to have. Amelia has even been missing him.

On his 2nd day of school Baron got lost. As a parent you feel bad and want to be there to help. But, you have to let go and let them do things themselves. Baron is awesome with directions. But, the second day he got off the bus and told the teacher he didn't need help. Well when he walked into school it looks the same if you go right or left. He went wrong and was in the wrong hall. He lucked out and ran into his friend in 1st grade and his older brother. And they helped him and took him to his class. The rest of the week he made it fine.

On Friday he got sent home with his info for his fall field trip... The zoo. He was excited and to my surprise he said he wanted me to go with his class.

He says he has made friends. But, didn't know anyone's name. Finally, on Friday he knew 2 kids names.

Hope next week is a success too.

Soccer season

Soccer season started. I don't have any pictures. Bummer! We "lucked" out and both kids practice the same night. But, last night I was in the concession stand all night ( each family has to do one volunteer time slot). So it left Nolan in charge of practice. He was going back and forth between both their fields. Both kids did great and had fun. I could watch Amelia out the concession stand and was so impressed. Hopefully, next week I have some pictures.

The Lion King

Last night I took Amelia to the Lion King. It did not go perfect. But, what do you expect from a 4 year old as your date.

I knew it was her 2nd day of school when I got tickets. I picked Tuesday as it was Kids Night On Broadway. They had special things for children and a special on tickets. Tickets are VERY expensive.

Tuesday proved to wear her out. We went to the gym. Then gymnastics. I had to change and feed her on the car ride to school. And after school she was TIRED! I had about 30mins till we had to leave for our dinner reservations. I was holding out hope she would sleep in the car ride down. No such luck! She wined she wanted goldfish, she didn't like her shoes, and that she didn't want to see a play ( she wanted to go to the movies)

We got to dinner. Which was amazing. Went to a trendy/ famous place. The Fountains on Locust. She made it through dinner

When we got to the Fox Theatre she saw all the neat stuff she was excited. She hugged me. Said thank you and how neat this was. We did the pre show stuff and she really enjoyed. The show started and it was so incredible. The show started at 8 and was scheduled to get over at 11. Well she only made it an hour. She probably would of fell asleep on me. But, I did not want to have to try to carry her to the car, in heals, in a huge crowd. After the hour her extreme whine came back. I'm soooo tired mom, it's too dark I'm scared. She was just overtired. So we left. We still managed to have a nice evening. It was just too late with school and getting back to our school bedtimes.

Wish I could of seen the whole show. Oh well. All in all she still had a good time.
Hat she made

First Day of School

Baron started kindergarten. He likes his teacher ( even though he says at bedtime that she makes him go to bed early). He wants to stay up and doesn't fill like he sees his Dad enough. He has a great start. Even got a note sent home that he is doing great.

The other day I knew he had PE class so I kept asking him about it. He kept saying he didn't do that. Ok. Then later he said "mom I had a class called gym". I had to explain they are the same. Haha

He likes the bus, lunch, recess. Doesn't like that he has to pretend sleep during rest time. ( close eyes). And he did not like that they had kickball at recess. But, he was told that was for older kids and he couldn't play.

Hoping for a great year! It's bittersweet for us.

Amelia started back up too. She is in Pre K ( starts k next year). I could not find the correct sign! She loves it and was glad to be back.

Fall Baseball

Baron is back to baseball. Fall baseball started. He did ok. His teammates are much older then him. And he missed 2 practices ( while we were out of town). Hopefully, he can get back to his self with some practice. He was called out at 1st. He ran so slow. Too much soda in Michigan!

Sleepy Bear Dunes

We went to Sleepy Bear Dunes for a day trip. It is getting busier as last year Good Morning America voted it the prettiest place in America.

They have a dune climb and every year we try to go further then the last. I had brought a camelback so we could be prepared this year. Too bad I left in the hotel! I looked over the info and the full climb is 4 hours, 3.5 miles, up and down hills in sand. It says it's challenging and you need to be prepared. We decided it was going to be too much... Haha

We left with 2 small bottles of water ( 10ozs) and started hiking. The girls did .75 miles one way so 1.5. Two little 4 year olds had out hiked most adults. But, baron wanted to keep going to the lake. So Opa took the girls to the car and Baron and I went off. I'm glad we did. It took us 4 hours. I drank no water as we didn't have enough ( heat of day). And I to bum some more water for Baron off some college girls. I have to say it was harder then a half marathon. I was so sore the next day I couldn't workout. And my feet burned in the sand. Almost a week later... And I still have blisters all over my feet. For the way back everyone had brought food and shoes. We had nothing! For awhile I thought Baron was not going to make it back. It wasn't pretty. He was stopping every 5 feet. Then he met a "friend" he was 12 and he talked to him on the way back. It helped pass the time. Nothing like getting done at 3 and your son had not even ate! Next year we are going prepared!
