6 Flags

Amelia and I went to 6 Flags over the weekend. She had so much fun. She got invited to go with Heidi and her mom Candy. They live down the street from us. In fact she loved so much and I already know Baron does I think I'm going to get season passes next year. Amelia even rode a big roller coaster! I didn't get a ton of pictures. Not the easiest to get the phone out.

Funny thing is we haven't had rain forever and it rained all morning. We braved it and we were saved by the ponchos. It all worked out fine. Did the rides first then after lunch we went to the water park.

This hot dog was crazy. Amelia is usually not a huge eater. We ate a FULL lunch at noon. Then at 3 she said she was hungry. We got this hotdog. And I said "wow that's enough for 3 people". I was talking to Candy then I looked over and the hotdog was almost gone. I even looked in the floor to see if she dropped. Nope she ate almost a pound hotdog. And yes I know how unhealthy that is. Our kids eat healthy most days and can have things like this on special days. I still can't get over how much food she ate!

Races

We ( the kids) have a few races planned for the fall. Both kids are doing the Labor Day bike race they did last year.

Baron is doing a triathlon at the end of September. Amelia is not old enough.

Then in October both
Kids are doing the Go St Louis Halloween run

Funny! He is making a weird face. But, baron needs a pair of these pants for his race. They are hard to find in small sizes. I found and we tried on. Can
You believe they are 50 bucks! I think that is crazy I have one pair of workout pants that expensive and I have been wearing weekly for 10 years! I was not going to spend that since he grows so fast and I can't hand them down. I just bid ( and won) on a Nike pair from eBay. I hope they fit when I get them.

With the kids races, my races, and their fall sports our weekends will be busy!

Weekend fun

Nolan and Baron are on a kayak trip with his brother and 2 oldest boys. Baron was so excited to go on the trip with his "old" cousins.

That has left the weekend open for Amelia and I to do some fun stuff. We meet Danielle ( my sister in law, amelia's aunt) and Brock ( her youngest son 6)

Amelia had so much fun with him. We played at the Magic House, had late lunch, then they came back to our house to play.

I did not get a lot of great photos. Amelia was being a stinker about taking good pictures. We were so worn out we both went to bed early. Note to self don't go to bed at 8pm. I woke up at 3am ready for the day.

Saturday is an lower key day. We are going to 6 Flags tomorrow. Amelia was invited by a friend. So today we went to the gym, got the rest of her school supplies, old navy, went to bread co, made a birthday cake for Nolan, did laundry, cleaned floors, cleaned bathroom, cleaned my car, and I still have half the day left.

One kid is soooo easy!!!

She loved the new pet area at the magic house. Got to pretend she was a vet

Her flower cookie! She talks about these all the time. I think they taste gross!

Proud of Amelia

Amelia just finished her summer gymnastics. She did fantastic. The way they do it is they have categories: vault, uneven bars, balance beam, floor exercise, and routines. Each category has about 5 skills. You get a star for each skill you master then a ribbon when you master them all.

When I signed her up they told me its takes about a year to complete ( you move up to next level when you complete)

She earned 1 ribbon. But, she earned 19 stars. There is only a few things she is missing in each category.

Way to go Amelia! You worked really hard

Cousins

Last night we went to visit our nephews and Nolan's brother and wife. Thanks for hosting us. We had a great dinner and the kids all had a great time running around till after 10pm! Amelia were in heaven having all the playmates.

Boy cousins. Amelia did not want in the picture. Silly girl. Of course my pet loving son had to hold the dog.

Friendly game of whiffle ball

-ok this was the big hit. Both kids thought they were riding a "real" four wheeler.

William's birthday party

Becky and her boys are visiting for the week from New Orleans. We could never get enough time with them. Things have been crazy this week. So all we have did was a birthday party. William's 7th birthday is next week. Last minute he wanted to have a party with his cousins, Baron, and Amelia. It was kind of a big party ( even in the middle of the afternoon during the week). Andy has 6 siblings and when they get together for a party they all show up. What a neat family!

Becky of course is the most talented creative person. She pulled together an awesome party in days. It was at a super nice bowling alley. She did Willy Wonka theme. She had prizes, take home gifts, golden eggs, game token, cupcakes, and pizza. My kids can't stop talking about all the fun. Great job Becky!

Baron with the birthday boy. Isn't he the tallest 7 year old? Let's just say he has a very tall dad

Gifts

The candy was great till Amelia spilled Nerds in my car. All I wanted to do was vacuum my car in 104 degree weather. Haha

Cupcakes

Baron, cousin Ryan, and William. I really didn't get great pics. The kids were always moving.

Wish I would of got one of Becky and Jack. The cutest little boy!

Timing the kids!

YouTube Video

He missed!

YouTube Video

I really thought there would be more "big kids". Most of the kids are skinnier like baron. It's 5/6 years old. So he is not the oldest or youngest. There is only one "big kid" that showed up. And poor kid is dying. He can't move to well. And he keeps needing breaks.

Warm up's the first day

Football camp

Baron is going to football camp. He is not going to play. We are already over committed with 4 activities in the fall for the kids. It is just a intro to football and no pads. He loves it and is doing really good.

Baron is just a worker. He works hard in everything he does. This has been his typical day. Football is 3 days in a row for 2 hours. It has been well over 100 degrees. Last night when we came home it was still 98. He swims for 4 hours, goes to the gym with me. I tell him he needs to rest before football. He never runs out of energy so he goes outside and plays baseball for an hour ( when it's 106 degrees at 4). Comes in eats then goes to football. I don't know how he keeps that pace up.

One thing about football. They are way more serious then other sports. 3 days of practice a week, time the kids in practice, and don't tolerate kids acting out(playing around)

Last night Baron took a pretty good hit. He was doing drills and the boy that went in front of him made a mistake. When he finished he ran through the drill instead of around! Baron took the hit the worse. He was able to finish the drill. But, got a fat bloody lip.

On a side note Nolan and I are so tired. Last night we were laughing ( as we crawl into bed to pass out) about how easier it was when the kids were littler. We have no evenings just to watch tv and be home. Everything is filled. And all the stuff you have to do/prepare to get them where they go takes a lot of time. I have been getting up at 4:30am and still can't get my to do list done. We haven't been getting home at night till after 9:30 and then we still have to get the kids to bed.

I guess it might slow down in 12 years when the kids go to college.

Summer is almost over

I'm having a small freak out! Yes we only really have 2 weeks left of summer. After that we head up to Michigan for the rest of summer and some adventures with my parents. More on that later.

I'm trying to fit in as much as possible. There is still a few things I wanted to do before school started. Can't believe my little boy is going to be in full time school.

On top of the fun stuff left on the list. I have to get a ton of other things done before we leave. The kids school stuff bought and ready. Plus Baron needs a eye exam before school. It's the state law before you start school.

This week we have been at the pool. They love swimming. And so do I. Amelia is finally able to swim a pretty good distant with no help. It's not pretty and it's a doggie paddle. But, much improved! Baron is like a fish and has pretty strong swimming skills and can do the whole pool. It works nice that they like the pool with this record heat.

So close

Amelia has been working really hard in gymnastics. She has improved! Here she is doing her routine for evaluations. She is so close in her foot scale... But, I don't think she held long enough to get credit. Next week is ribbon and star week. So we will see what skills she passes.

Amelia funnies!

Amelia and I taped the American Girl movie McKenna. Amelia has the doll and she LOVED the movie. Part of the appeal for her was it was gymnastics and Amelia loves her gymnastics.

Last night ( while I was showering) she came in crying and very upset. I could not understand her very well as she was so upset. All I could hear was McKenna. My first thought was something happened to her doll.

Well that was not it..... She was upset as she didn't know how to spell McKenna and was making a card to mail her.

Oh Amelia you crack me up!

Drive in movie

Last night we went to the drive in. It's in illinois about 30 miles from home. It is very old fashioned. Everything is from the 80's or before. Haha. You get there at 7pm for pre fun. They have 2 movie screens. You pick which screen you want. We picked one to see Ice Age at 9. You get to movies actually. After Ice Age they were playing Brave. Most people stayed for both. We only stayed for one. Amelia feel asleep. Baron wanted to stay and probably could of down it but it did not get over with till 12:30 am and we would still have to drive home. Both Nolan and I had no desire to stay out that late and still have a productive Sunday!

We all had a blast, the kids played, baron ran into a friend ( yes he knows everyone). We had a ton of snacks and the back of the car all cozy for them.

Mini train ride

Called this the "tetanus". Look at it.. It's covered in rust.

Old fashioned merry go around. I told her to hold on for dear life. Oh my I'm sure some kids get hurt on this and the teter totters they had. We took a pass on the later.. Ha

So funny

Last week was VBS. Both kids loved it and it was such a special week. It's amazing that they have all the volunteers for it. Big thank you to the adults and older kids that put so much work into it. I must admit I feel kind of guilty not helping out. But, I worked out, grocery shopped, and cleaned during the time.
Thursday was family night. I had not mentioned it to the kids and assumed we would skip. Nolan was out of town. It was later and night and I knew Amelia would be tired. I just did not want to have to tackle it as a "single mom" and I was being lazy.

Both kids came home every day talking about family night. Haha that's what happens with older kids. They both were begging to go. Baron keep going on about singing his songs he was practicing. I was shocked as that is not normally his thing.

Amelia just stood there. She did not want to get on stage. She was falling asleep in the crowd. She only followed Baron. Let's just say singing and dance are not my kids strong suits. I think they may take after his mom. Sorry! Baron was not good. I can be truthful. But, he was so confident it cracked me up. He wanted to show Nolan the video. Told me how good he did. Then when I told him "did you see the lady helping with the hand gestures". He told me yes but I didn't watch her as I was good without help. Silly boy!

YouTube Video

Amelia wanted to act like a plane

Don't know if you can see. But, in the back is a way to weigh stuff. The kids loved this. They donated dimes for a mission trip. It was boys vs girls. Whoever lost got to put chocolate syrup on each other. It was just the 2 adult leaders. They didn't put stuff on the kids. The kids laughed and talked about this all week.

So glad we went to family night. They had a highly decorated pilot there. Baron set on the edge of his seat and loved everything he said. My big boy ever volunteered everytime he asked for volunteers. He was never picked. Judging by the kids he picked I think he thought baron was a little small.

What a great week. Now we have 3 weeks before our 2 weeks up to Michigan and school. Sniff sniff. I love summer!

Amelia's handwriting

And yes she can spell a ton of words with no help

It's official

Baron got the last spot on a 7u fall baseball team. It's in chesterfield and I think they play 7-8 games. We will see how it plays out with 2 kiddos soccer games. But, baseball and basketball are his favorite sports so far. He is going to be on the "Rockies". I'm just hoping they wear grey pants so I don't have to buy more baseball pants. Haha

Amelia

Both kids are at VBS this week. It is simply amazing. Both kids love it. I can not get over all the fun stuff they have everyday. Amelia is in craft heaven! They have 500 participating. And each kid has a home room. Well everyday Amelia tells me about her friends she makes. Today she told me " I made a new friend, it's the teacher". Each room has an adult teacher and several teenage helpers. Well this is what she came home with

Back of art. Amelia you are so cute. If you need a babysitter call xxx-xxxx. And Amelia writing Allison on the card
